The classic deVOL butchers block is beautifully made by our cabinet makers in Quorn, Leicestershire using traditional techniques. Its design includes the best cabinetry details from period English furniture and yet maintains clean contemporary lines.

Our maple tops are made up from 6" to 13" wide boards 2" thick and are double biscuit jointed together. The optional cherry "bread board" ends are the traditional way to maintain a flat surface and the dovetails prominently display the quality of construction.

Cherry and maple have similar grain structures of opalescent shimmering undulations but in contrasting hues. The drawers are solid timber with widely spaced dovetailed fronts that mimic hand cut dovetails.

The carcase is of mortice and tenon construction and the wide slats have a bowed chamfer edge detail.

Our mahogany knobs are turned to an original Georgian profile and are available stained and polished to a rich and deep sheen.

The castors are the best locking castors available in stainless steel with wide rubber tyres.

The basic model is made entirely of cabinetry quality pine and is suitable for staining, waxing, liming or varnishing. If a painted finish is required we recommend the carcase to be made from a knot free hardwood called tulip wood.
